                                      Different Types of Franchising

There are four common franchise forms that are used by entrepreneurial marketers.

                                      1. Manufacturing franchise- This allows the franchisee to use the franchisor's name and trademark when manufacturing a product such as soft drink bottlers and other food and beverage industries.

                                      2. Manufacturer-retailer franchise- Here the franchisee can sell their product through retail outlets like gasoline stations or businesses in shopping malls.

                                      3. Wholesaler-retailer franchise- The wholesaler allows retailers to carry products distributed by them.  Examples would be Radio Shack and Health Mart.

                                      4. Business format franchise- This is the most common of the franchise's.  Here the franchisor gives the franchisee a complete set of ways on how to operate the business. Some examples include, Applebees, Little Ceasers Pizza, Dollar Tree, Golds Gym, and Howard Johnson Hotels.
